Location: Namak-Aabroud, Iran (Two-stage Design Competition)
The main challenge in designing the Hinge Towers was to work out a solution for juxtaposition of the towers with the neighboring low-rise two stories villas and using the maximum site views as well as maintaining the privacy of the apartments. On this basis, two curved-shape towers were designed in a way to have the least shade on the neighboring buildings.
The corridors and service facilities are designed to be placed in central exposed concrete core and the apartments are connected to them in a transparent shape. A hole in one tower makes it possible to have visual connections between the inner and outer spaces of the site and at the same time, can be used as a “Garden Cafe’”. Cantilevered penthouse completes the sky-line of the project.
